How to validate employees' shifts on the Combo mobile app?

As a manager, validating hours on the mobile app is a crucial step: it secures the data flow and ensures that reliable information is sent directly to payroll.

What are the requirements to validate a shift?

Before getting started, make sure the following three prerequisites are met:

  • Manager permissions: Your profile must have the option "Can edit published schedules and validate shifts for their establishment" enabled in your access rights.

  • Schedule publication: The schedule must have been published from the web version beforehand.

  • Time period: Validation is only possible for past days.


How to read hour discrepancies?

To help you spot hour discrepancies at a glance, Combo uses specific icons and colour codes:

Hour in black

Hour in colour

Orange icon 🟠

The employee declared the correct time (matches the planned schedule).

The time declared by the employee does not match the planned time (e.g. 8:30 instead of 9:00). It appears in orange.

Green icon 🟢

The shift was validated at the correct time (matches the planned schedule).

The shift was validated with a modified time that does not match the time originally scheduled. It appears in green.


How to validate a shift from the Combo mobile app?

Validate as scheduled:

If the hours actually worked match the planned schedule exactly.

Go to the Schedule tab:

  • Select the shift to process.

  • Click Validate. The hours are locked and sent directly to payroll.

Edit before validation (Correct a discrepancy):

If you want to adjust the declared time yourself before final validation.

Go to the Schedule tab:

  • Select the shift to process.

  • Click Edit.

  • Adjust the actual hours.

  • Click Validate.


How to correct an already validated shift?

If an error is found after the shift has been marked as validated (green icon).

Go to the Schedule tab:

  • Tap the relevant shift.

  • Click Unvalidate.

  • Make the necessary time corrections.

  • Click Validate again.
