How to Convert Your Employees’ Overtime Hours into Compensatory Rest (CTO)

Convert overtime into compensatory rest directly from the payroll report.

Updated today

By default, your employees’ overtime hours are paid.

👉 You can choose to convert them into compensatory rest (CTO), giving time off in exchange.

How to convert overtime into compensatory rest

Go to Reports > Payroll Period > Compensatory Rest tab:

  • Look at the columns Overtime at X% (by surcharge rate, according to your collective agreement)

  • Enter the number of hours to convert into rest (or use the green arrow) in the To Be Paid column

  • Check the summary in Total overtime to be paid and Total overtime in RCR

The employee’s RCR balance updates automatically.

💡

  • Hours are displayed in decimals (e.g., 2h30 = 2.5h)

  • Changes are only possible if the payroll period is unlocked

  • Deleting a payroll period cancels all conversions

  • Hours converted disappear from the “Worked Hours” tab

How to manually adjust compensatory rest counters

From the employee’s profile > Leave & Absences > Compensatory Rest:

  • Click Edit manually

  • Indicate the number of hours to add (+2.5) or subtract (–1)

  • Save

💡

  • Each entry is final, but you can create a new entry later to adjust the balance

  • RCR concerns only ongoing contracts

  • You can view the current balance and action history at any time
