Adapt your employees' work schedules to match your business needs: easily create and configure your modulation period.

Updated today

Go to Settings > Location & schedules > your location > Modulation tab :

  • Click on “Create a Period”

  • Select the calculation mode “Modulation”

  • Choose the dates for your reference period: On Combo, your period can range from a minimum of 4 weeks to a maximum of 3 years.

  • Enter the annual working hours target: By default, 1607 hours corresponds to a 35-hour workweek for a full year. This value automatically adjusts based on each employee’s weekly working hours.

    • If your reference period does not strictly cover January 1 to December 31, the hours will be prorated based on the specified period.

  • Set upper and lower limits for full-time (in hours or percentage) and part-time employees (in percentage):

    • Hours exceeding the upper limit are recorded as overtime (or additional hours) during the week concerned.

    • Hours below the lower limit are accounted for in the modulation.

  • Select the teams to be modulated.

  • Enable employee-level customization if needed:

    • Exclude certain employees from modulation.

    • Enter a carryover value in “Initial Balance.”

    • Customize the period dates (e.g., for a new employee starting modulation next month).

  • Click on “Create” to save.

If you apply modulation to only one team, it will not be possible to use smoothing or a different modulation period for other teams within the same establishment.

How are the 1607 hours calculated?

Over the course of a year, there are 137 non-working days:

  • 104 weekend days (2 days of rest per week over 52 weeks)

  • 25 annual leave days

  • 8 public holidays

This leaves 228 working days (365 days - 137 non-working days).

With a standard workday of 7 hours, this totals 1596 hours (228 x 7). This value is rounded up to 1600 hours.
Adding the 7-hour solidarity day, we reach a total of 1607 hours!

🎉 And that's it! Your reference period is set up!
