From Settings > Locations & Schedules > Your location > Scheduling:
Enable the option: check Apply a default break when creating a shift
Choose how the break is applied:
By minutes → enter a fixed duration (e.g. 30 min)
By percentage → enter a percentage of the total shift duration (e.g. 10% of a 6h shift = 36 min)
Set the minimum shift length from which the break will apply (e.g. 4h)
Save your settings

To make sure a break is always applied, set the minimum shift length to your break time + 1 minute (e.g. 21 min for a 20 min break).
Breaks only apply to individual shifts longer than the defined minimum.
The break is applied only at the time of shift creation, not when editing the shift afterwards.
