Prerequisites:
Be an Owner, Admin, or Director linked to the establishment.
Have the People Plan.
Have unlocked all payroll periods included in the smoothing or modulation period before making any changes.
Why must payroll periods be unlocked beforehand?
Combo blocks all changes to schedules and contracts on a locked payroll period. Unlocking the periods is a mandatory step: without this action, entering the initial balance will be blocked.
⚠️ Payroll periods are automatically locked 14 days after their end date.
How to unlock payroll periods?
Go to Reports:
Check all payroll periods included in the smoothing or modulation period (or use the general selection).
Click Unlock payroll period.
Repeat the action if periods are spread across multiple pages.

Unlocking is temporary (24 hours). Proceed with modifying the balance immediately after.
Only Admins and Directors can lock or unlock a payroll period.
How to modify the initial balance in annual smoothing?
Go to Configuration > Establishments & Schedules > your establishment > Modulation tab:
Find the relevant smoothing period and click the Pencil icon.
Go to the Customize smoothing per employee section or Customize modulation per employee section.
Enter the desired value in decimal format in the Initial balance field (e.g. 30h30 = 30.5).
Enter the start date for the balance if needed.
Confirm by clicking Save.
Entering an initial balance overwrites the previous counter history for the employee.
If you reset the counter to 0, previously accumulated hours must be manually added to your payroll export to ensure correct payroll processing.
If you perform a partial reset, also manually add the paid hours to the downloaded export

Q: How do I enter 30h30 in the Initial balance field?
R: Enter 30.5 (decimal format). 15 minutes = 0.25 / 30 minutes = 0.5 / 45 minutes = 0.75.
Q: The initial balance modification is blocked. Why?
R: The payroll periods linked to the smoothing or modulation period are locked. Unlock them from Reports before proceeding.
Q: Can I modify the initial balance for a single employee without affecting others?
R: Yes. The Customize smoothing/modulation per employee section allows you to enter an individual initial balance without affecting other employees in the period.
Q: Is the initial balance visible to the employee?
R: No it is not explicit.
Q: What happens if I don't unlock all payroll periods?
